Looking in the mirror,
Staring myself down…
Hurling condemnation,
Beaten up with accusation
I’m a fool and I am weak
Looks like there’s no hope for me
The face I’m seeing eye to eye
Makes me cringe and want to hide
This mirror’s not a friend to me.

Looking in the mirror,
Staring myself down…
Hating the reflection
Wanting just to see perfection
Can the ugly and the weak
Find the strength that sets them free?
The face I’m seeing eye to eye
Makes me cringe and want to hide
This mirror’s not a friend to me.

The mirror tells lies
But there’s One who speaks truth
And He stands just behind me
Whispering, “I love you.”
For now I see through a glass,
But someday I’ll see face to face
The reflection of His love,
This broken image replaced.

Looking in the mirror,
His voice to me now speaks
“There’s no condemnation,
I bore all the accusation.
In your weakness I am strong
Take my hand and just hold on
The mirror’s image that you see
Is a child of the King
And your reflection is a joy to me.
Your reflection is a joy to me.”
